Our History
The Konzeptwerft was founded in 2007 by competitive and Olympic sailors with the aim of repositioning Olympic sailing in Germany - oragnisationally, economically, medially and athletically. Goal: Two Olympic medals in Rio 2016.
Jochen Schümann as three-time Olympic champion and two-time AC winner the most successful sailor in Germany, shareholder.
Prof Dr Kathrin Adlkofer. Two-time world champion, Olympic participant and successful entrepreneur in the health industry is co-founder and shareholder of Konzeptwerft.
Oliver Schwall, world as well as vice world champion and proven marketing professional is co-founder and current managing partner.
First groundbreaking project "Sailing Team Germany" as the first inclusive national team for Olympic and Paralympic sailing sports. Focus and expertise: acquisition of sponsorships, professional support for the sailors and media marketing, uniform appearance. With Audi and SAP, two blue-chip customers were won for the implementation and realization of the ambitious projects.Two Paralympic medals in London 2012 and a bronze medal in Rio as well as countless successes and medals at World Cups, World Championships, European Championships complete the success. In parallel to Sailing Team Germany, two new projects were launched and led to success: In 2013, the first national sailing league worldwide was started with the German Sailing League and in 2014, the international offshoot of the SAILING Champions League was launched. For the first time, the sailing clubs are brought into focus, as it has been implemented in other sports and national leagues for decades, many countries adapt the format so that it becomes an export hit. Ingredients: understandable format with short races, one-design boats (no material battle), medicalization (PR, social media, live stream), simple terms and understandable. The DSBL and SCL and electrify more and more clubs and more countries to build a national league. There are now over 20 countries in Europe as well as Australia. The Sailing League - an established format celebrated by sailors:inside, clubs, media and sponsors alike.
In 2017, the Nord Stream Race complements the portfolio of the concept yard, the NSR with 1,000 nautical miles the longest offshore race in the Baltic Sea. The organizer from Russia, the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, entrusts KWH as the executing agency with the planning and implementation of the annual event.
